A new addition to the ’Great Android Phone Collection’ is the new Micromax Canvas Turbo A250. Packed with a bunch of cool new ideas, Micromax, which is most renowned for making great phones that won’t cost you an arm and a leg, gives other Smartphone manufacturers a run for their money.

Micromax turbo a250

Design, Hardware and Specs

This particular model has an aluminum chassis with plastic covering on the top and bottom, which is a definite plus considering radio wave reception and durability. The edges are nice and round, and small thing that really makes a difference is that the headphones go in at the bottom of the device. Might be a little strange at first, but makes it more comfortable when listening to your favorite tunes on the way.

It provides slots for two micro-SIM cards, but on the downside it lacks the possibility of memory expansion, so you’re stuck with 16 gigs of internal memory, of which you only have control over 12.47 GBs. To make things worse there is no way to remove the battery.

It still shouldn’t be a deal breaker, considering that it has a beautiful 5” Full HD screen with a resolution of 1080×1920, and Continuous Grain Silicon technology, which provides fantastic viewing angles, and the 1.5 GHz MediaTek MT 6589T Quad Core processor takes care of all your seamless multitasking needs. The device flashes a primary (13Mp) and a secondary (5Mp) camera. The primary camera makes sharp and crispy images, can take panorama pictures, create gifs, has a great performance when using flash, but tends to focus slowly, which is really annoying when you try to shoot anything other than portrait photos.

Micromax Canvas Turbo A250

Media, Apps and OS

The Canvas Turbo comes with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, a cool ’Blow-to-Unlock’ feature, and with apps that use it to it’s fullest extent. A document viewer and an Excel application is a ’must-have’ these days, while the ’ifloat’ app lets you take control of the phone’s multitasking capabilities, splitting the screen for when you want to browse without stopping the work flow. When it comes to video, the developers kept almost everything that worked in Canvas 4. Simple and beautiful layout, great speaker sound, lagless playback, and the Intuitive Gesture Control provides the video player with the ’Look Away’ function, which pauses the video you are watching when you are not paying attention. Not to mention that all the most popular and widespread video formats are supported.

What really turns your smile into a frown when we talk about video is the battery life. It might last more than a day with wifi or bluetooth off, but with these turned on, it barely lasts 6 hours. Video drains the battery, and call time is only 2 hours.

All in all

Considering price and performance, the Micromax Canvas Turbo is a great buy for anyone who wishes to take advantages of all of it’s features. True, you will not watch a full season of Breaking Bad on it while taking photos of Usian Bolt on the track with a single charge, but it is perfect for those workaholic multitaskers and for the average users, who only use a little bit of this, and a little bit of that.

It is the battle between two Indian manufactured powerhouses, the Micromax Canvas turbo pitched against the Intex Aqua i7. It will be to be seen which devices fares the best among the two because both the devices are pretty packing and also are available at a pretty low cost. So all in all it is going to be a tough battle ahead. We guess whichever device comes on top it is going to be great news for the consumers are they are going to get some amazing options to choose from.

Micromax Vs Intex

Design and Looks:
The design of the i7 is something that can be called as the custom stock Android running in the system. I said this because the phone has the 3 capacitive navigation buttons on the device, and their shapes are also exactly same as the ones present on the stock Vanilla Android present on the nexus line-up of phones. The shape of the phone is pretty classy with rounded edges adding to the beauty of the phone. The Canvas Turbo on the other hand has a more ovalish shape to it. It is rectangular but the corner edges of the device are more rounded giving it that look.

Display:
Both the devices sport a 5” IPS LCD capacitive Full HD display with resolution of 1920×1080 at 441 ppi display. So both the devices have a very evenly matched display and both are absolutely amazing.

Micromax turbo a250

Performance:
The performance is where Micromax scores over other devices. Both the devices are powered by a quad core processor under the hood clocked at 1.5 GHz, but the place where Micromax scores is the presence of the PowerVR SGX544 GPU coupled with the processor which handles all the graphics requirements of the device. Hence gaming and multitasking on the Canvas Turbo is a much better breeze than the Aqua i7.

Operating System:
Both the devices run on Android 4.2 JellyBean. So again in this area both the phones are pretty evenly matched. Also there is no custom UI overlay over Android unlike Samsung or HTC or any other big player in the market. Both the devices though come with some custom apps inbuilt from the company which provides better and improved functionality of the device.

Intex Aqua i7

Storage capacity and Main memory:
Both the devices contain 2 GB of RAM which is amazing. But both the devices disappoint us due to the unavailability of expandable storage option. We always love the option of extending storage or being able to carry out data in small chips but still both the devices come with good on board storage. The Canvas Turbo comes with 16 GB on inbuilt storage which is not bad but could have had been better. The Aqua i7 though has 32 GB of on board storage, though the user available memory is only 24.8 GB.

Camera:
On the camera front also both devices are pretty evenly matched with a 13 MP rear shooter which captures some amazing stills and Full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps. Also they both contain a 5 MP front camera which is really amazing. Now you can simply go ahead and capture some amazing photos and videos and also cool selfies. So why not go ahead and get your girlfriend one eh? 😉

Features:
Since both devices are running Android, we really need not talk much about the features. It is almost self-explanatory, but still the Canvas Turbo though comes with some great extra features which were present in the previous flagship, the Canvas 4. Features in the phone include Blow to Unlock, Smart Scroll, App in App, Smart Stay and many more. So overall in terms of features the Canvas Turbo is better than the Aqua i7.

Battery:
Both the devices are evenly matched in terms of the battery as well since both are powered by a 2000 mAh battery which lasts easily upto 7 hours on 3G networks. It is a bit less for many other devices present out there but it is still not at all bad. So battery is pretty decent on both the devices.

Conclusion:
So, we checked out the Micromax Canvas Turbo and the Intex Aqua i7 pitched against each other and the results prove us easily on the basis of the added features, the great added apps and the rest of the features that the Canvas Turbo is a better device than the Intex Aqua i7, not by much, but just a little bit. So feel free to comment below what you feel about both the devices and which one you feel better and would prefer to buy.

Introduction:
Gionee recently unveiled its latest flagship in the market, the Elife E6. This is an amazing device and fall in the line of devices like the Spice Pinnacle, the Intex Aqua i7, Micromax Turbo, Iberry Auxus Nuclea N1 and many others. So today we are pitching this device against the leader in the market in this category and that is the Micromax Canvas Turbo.

Gionee Vs Micromax

Design and Looks:
The design of the Gionee Elife E6 is quite aesthetic with a square shape and rounded edges so as to reduce the damages due to corner scratches and /or falling or hitting somewhere which is a good thing. It also has the 3 capacitive touch buttons up front for navigations purposes. The Canvas Turbo on the other hand has a curved design which makes the phone look almost like an oval due the heavy curves at the corners. This is actually a great design as it allows for greater handling grip. It also has the 3 capacitive touch buttons for navigation up front.

Display:
On the display section both the devices sport a 5” IPS LCD Capacitive Full HD display with resolution on 1920×1080 @ 441 ppi. So in terms of display both the devices are pretty evenly matched up and are together against each other head on.

Performance:
This is where the Canvas Turbo scores ahead of the Gionee. The Elife E6 and the Turbo both have 1.5 GHz Quad core processors, but the Turbo has a Cortex A-7 processor coupled with a PowerVR SGX544 GPU to handle all the graphics operations of the device which on the Elife is handled by the processor itself which means greater load on the processor and hence slower processing and operations being performed.

Operating System:
Both the devices run on the Android 4.2 JellyBean so there is not much to compare here. But the Canvas Turbo comes with some small tweaks in the OS like custom apps, wallpapers, etc. which Micromax provides to make their phones unique in the market just the way Samsung, HTC and others put in custom UIs. Nothing yet is known about the Elife E6, but the Canvas Turbo is in for a 4.3 JellyBean upgrade and also maybe the 4.4 KitKat upgrade in the coming future.

Storage capacity and Main memory:
Both the devices come with 2 GB of RAM which is great but none of them come with expandable memory card slots, which totally sucks. We are all fans of expandable and portable memory that we can carry around and easily swap from device to device. But nevertheless both the devices some packing. The Elife E6 comes with 32 GB on inbuilt storage which is great whereas the Canvas Turbo comes with only 16 GB of internal space. Guess this is come cost saving technique by Micromax, but we are really not a big fan of this.

Camera:
On the camera front, both the devices do not disappoint as they both have a 13 MP shooter at the back which is more than capable of shooting some great snaps as well as 1080p Full HD videos at 30 fps. Also both the devices have 5 MP shooters on the front as well for HD video calling and great selfies as well. Check these out girls!

Features:
Both devices are pretty feature packed. Gionee is not that great feature packed as compared to Canvas Turbo. It runs Android so if you want anything, you can just download the app and you are done. On the other hand the Canvas Turbo comes with some great in-built features like blow to unlock, smart scroll, smart stay which is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and were also present in the previous flagship the Canvas 4.

Battery:
As for the battery, both devices are quite packing, but the Canvas Turbo has a 2100 mAh battery compared to the 2020 mAh on the Gionee Elife E6. The difference is not much, but we can always use the extra hour of battery life. So the Canvas Turbo scored ahead of the Elife E6 here.

Conclusion:
So all in all we checked out both the phones by pitching them against each other and the results are not at all surprising. Both the phones are pretty evenly matched but still on the basis of the under the hood specs, the battery and the features that come with the phone, the Canvas Turbo is the better phone among both the devices. The Gionee Elife is not a bad phone too and if you are looking for a device with a greater memory so in that case you can go for this phone. Let us know by commenting below what you feel about it and which phone will you prefer among the two.

The flagship competition among Indian phone manufacturers is heating up quickly with release of some new amazing phones in the market at a very low cost. This is one amazing thing about local manufacturers. They provide some good phones with great specs at very competitive prices. Also these phones are actually comparable to the higher end phones of international manufacturers but cost almost half the price. So we have today pitched the two local flagships, the Micromax Canvas Turbo and the Karbonn Titanium S9.

Micromax Canvas Turbo vs Karbonn Titanium S9

Design and Looks:
By both design and feel, the phones are made of a polycarbonate body and are quite sturdy to hold in the hand. They have the candybar form factor with rounded edges. Looks wise both the phones are pretty good and look quite chic. The S9 has a physical home button, which is the only difference between the phones except for the size. So overall, both the phones are quite sturdy and good for the price.

Display:
The Karbonn Titanium S9 is a Phablet with a big 5.5” IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720×1280 at 267 ppi which is an upgrade from the previous qHD display on its previous device. Though it is a bit disappointing as we were expecting a Full HD display on this device. But nevertheless, for the price, it is a pretty good deal. On the other hand the Canvas Turbo has a 5” IPS LCD Full HD display at 1920×1080 at 441 ppi. Micromax is a bit late with this as we were expecting this on the Canvas 4, but well, better late than never.

Performance:
On the performance end, both the devices are packing a quad core processor under the hood. So you can be sure that you will never have any performance issues on the phone. The difference being that the S9 is packing a 1.2 GHz quad core processor while the Canvas Turbo is packing a 1.5 GHz quad core MTK MT6589T processor which allows for better processing and also the support for 1080p resolution displays.

Operating System:
Both devices are running Android 4.2 JellyBean out of the box. So both are exactly evenly matched on this front. But the main feature here that takes the Turbo ahead of the S9 is the presence of custom Micromax apps that come preinstalled into the device adding to the functionality of the device with a custom Micromax feel to it.
Storage capacity and Main memory:
This is where Micromax both impresses and yet disappoints at the same time. For starters it has 2 GB of RAM as compared to 1 GB of RAM in the Karbonn Titanium S9. Though both the devices contain 16 GB of internal storage, the Turbo does not have an expandable memory slot which is a huge let down. On the other hand the S9 has an expandable slot upto 32 GB which is great.

Camera:
Both the manufacturers do not have that great a reputation of having great shooters on their devices but they are fine for shooting some fine snaps and videos. Both the devices have a 13 MP camera on board, but of course you cannot quite compare then with the like of Samsung and Nokia. But they still do a pretty good job in capturing good stills and HD videos. The Canvas Turbo is capable of 1080p videos whereas the S9 is capable of 720p videos. Now that is great for a phone with this price tag. Add to that a 5 MP front camera and you have a sweet deal on your hands.

Features:
Features wise there is not much to tell and compare actually. Both the devices run on the Vanilla version of Android so both are capable of downloading the required apps. Micromax here has some features to mention which were present even on the Canvas 4. Features like app in app, gesture control, and blow to unlock are some amazing features that were present on the Canvas 4 which have been carried to this device as well and we really wish they are here to stay.

Battery:
Both devices are packing some power sources inside them, but the S9 which is a bigger device needing a bigger battery has one. The S9 has a 2600 mAh battery while the Canvas Turbo has a 2000 mAh battery. Micromax did disappoint again here as we were expecting a bigger battery this time around. Also now with the bigger 1080p display, the requirement of a bigger battery is more than ever. But guess we are unable to control that part. But overall in terms of battery performance, both the devices are pretty evenly matched with the S9 having a small lead with a bigger battery.

We pitched two Indian flagships, the Micromax Canvas Turbo and the Karbonn Titanium S9 and we compared them all the aspects and found that the Canvas Turbo is a better device in terms of performance, display and features, but if you want a device with a huge screen, more memory and a bigger battery, then the S9 is the answer for you. You can always comment down below what you feel about the phones and let us know your views.

Micromax launched its Canvas Turbo phone in India. The phone has very decent specs for the price range of under 20 thousand INR. The phone houses a quad-core processor running at 1.5GHz and has a 2 GB Ram, the main snapper is 13 mega pixel and has a secondary camera for video calling an impressive 5 megapixel. The handset has an aluminium casing and runs on Android 4.2.1 out of the box, the 16gb internal storage takes care of internal uses, though androids bloating application store is something that manufactures have to take care. For us the downside is the battery time and again its been the achilles heal for many phones at 2,000 mAh its wont be able to stand to much of pounding from users. The offical battery numbers claim of 7 hours will lead to a serious problem as users are running more and more apps which drains the battery a lot quicker. With some big names coming in as brand ambassador Micromax popularity has never been higher.
