Google is the developer of many important stuff and one important stuff is Android OS. Google had to mainly designer, developer, and support agent for these devices while other OEM developers (Motorola, HTC) carried out the entire manufacture. Google earlier developed its devices with Motorola but after its takeover by Lenovo, Google decided to continue their Nexus series with HTC and hence Google Nexus 9 a joint effort of Google and HTC that has provided some of the great hardware specs supported by one of the best UI.
Nexus 9 tablet was launched in 15th of October 2014 in India. Nexus 9 an 8.9” tablets made of IPS LCD screen with a pixel density of 281 ppi. Nexus 9 has a 2.3GHz dual core processor backed with Nvedia GPU and a 2GB RAM to enable multitasking. The device comes in two variant with respect to internal data you get nexus 9 in 16 (Wi-Fi) /32GB (LTE) variant. The company is providing an 8 MP primary camera and an 1.6MP Front camera with a HD(720 pixel) resolution which is like watching a HD video. The device supports sim card and take cares of 2G/3G and 4G network with all this you get a 6700mAh battery, which is quite awesome that as per company works for more than 9 hours on 3G network.
Now after seeing such great specs you will wonder if there is any possibility to handle the internal hardware as you demand and let me tell you this it is possible. Rooting your device leads you to access developer rights that is you can handle all types of processor and software related operations. Rooting your device is quite simple and below I will explain steps to Root nexus 9 but mind you rooting will lead to warranty of device being collapse.
Step-1: Go to Settings>> About phone and tap the icon 7 times to enable developer option. You now have access to the Developers options under Settings.
Step-2: Inside Developer options in settings click on Enable OEM unlock and USB Debugging option.
Step-3: Download and extract adb-fastboot.zip on your PC from XDA-developer website.
Step-4: Connect your device and PC via USB cable. Make sure all the drivers are installed properly.
Step-5: Allow USB debugging option when prompted on Nexus 9.
Step-6: Go to the folder where you have unzip the downloaded files and open a command prompt inside the folder by pressing Shift+ Right click inside the folder and select Open command windows here.
Step-7: Restart the device in Bootloader/Developer Mode. To gain this mode press and hold Power key and Volume down button simultaneously.
Step-8: Once you are in this mode activate FASTBOOT option using the volume keys to scroll up and down the list and power button to accept it.
Step-9: In fastboot mode, type in the following command
- fastboot oen unlock
Step-10: Boot loader can be unlocked by pressing Volume up button once and will restart the device.
Step-11: Download the (Nexus9-root-SuperSU-v2.18.zip) root package from XDA-developers (nexus 9 forum≫ Nexus 9 Original Android Development≫ Root) and extract it.
Step-12: Copy the contents of the download file into the ADB and Fastboot folder.
Step-13: Connect the Nexus 9 to the computer once done; Boot into Bootloader mode by entering the following command in command prompt and then type the instruction as given one by one.
- adb reboot bootloader
- fastboot boot inject.img
- fastboot flash boot patched.img
- fastboot reboot
Now your device is rooted and to unroot it just factory reset the device and all of comes to the place it was originally meant to. To unroot go to Bootloader/Developer mode and select factory reset or recovery option and wait.
