There is a new phone in the city for those who are interested in carrying an android phone load of features like dual SIM, dual camera, android jellybean, capacitive touch etc. at a cheaper rate. PANASONIC launches its third phone in market after T11, T21 its T31. The phone comes for approximate 6 grand’s and various online with different offers. The phone is loaded with 4-inch screen a 1.3 GHz processor, dual SIM dual camera and other exiting features that other branded phones posses.

Panasonic T31 comes with a plastic body, which makes the look simple as well as attractive and most important lightweight.  The phone comes in two variations white or black. Panasonic has launched a phone with features like tablet but is available in a small Panasonic T31device. Famous proverb “BIG THINGS COME IN SMALL PAKAGES” is the perfect fit to define this phone.

Panasonic Logo

ABOUT THE PHONE:

Panasonic has joined the league of revolutionizing the phone industry with T31. The phone’s dimensions are 122 x 64.4 x 11.95. The company has provided basic outer body but with more curved edges, the plastic glossy finish on the back adds to its looks as an advantage. The front section is divided between 4-inch screen and 3 classic soft buttons and some locations is spared for sensors, VGA Camera & micro-phone. The Phone consists of a power button and a 3.5MM jack on top and with only volume key been placed sideways & a speaker and primary camera at back. They have added micro-phone on the front and back panel for sound cancelation.

The company has provided a dual camera with 3.15 pixel Primary camera without flash and VGA front camera. The captured images have a low quality. Panasonic has also worked on its body and have added few innovative touches by repositioning some button location. The company backs the phone good looks with 1.3GHZ DUAL CORE processor & 512Mb RAM.  They have added 1300 mAh battery to support to this giant beast, which last for only ~4 to 5 hours. The internal memory provided is 4GB (user accessible~ 2 GB) and can be expanded up to 32 GB.

Panasonic T31

The display provided is 4-inch WVGA display; the pixel density offered 233 pixels per inches. The capacitive TFT LCD screen is the best that can be offered for that prize. To view an image, a video it feels ok but not that fantastic like other highhanded products.

CONCLUSION:

The USP of the phone is prized and processor, but lags on various other points that other phones does not with the same hardware. The phone has a capacitive screen with a very bad response, which is annoying.  The company has tried to innovate certain button position, but instead they should provide high internal memory and better display (pixel density). The earlier version of Panasonic phones had a better hardware and response, which lacks in Panasonic T31. If I would rate this device based on the processor, touch response, prize & display I would rate it 5 out of 10.

Product Features:

  • Dual Sim, 3G & 2G
  • Wi-Fi with hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS.
  • Dual Core, 1.3GHz Processor

Lava recently launched another product in its IRIS line of Android Smartphones- the IRIS 504Q.Lava; unlike its competitor Micromax, hasn’t been able to grab much of a limelight when it comes to affordable 5 inches in the market. Let’s take a look on what IRIS 504Q offers in terms of specification and whether it can leave behind the A116 in terms of offering.

On the display front, Lava has introduced OGS technology on the display of the 504Q. OGS stands for one glass solution which combines the protective glass plus the air and a touch layer with the LCD layer of the phone thereby reducing the thickness of the phone as well as improving the display quality at the same time. It offers a similar 720p resolution as A116 HD, nothing different.

Lava Iris 540Q

Lava IRIS 504Q has a stock Android 4.2 installed in it which is a higher version when compared to Micromax A116 HD, which runs on Android 4.1. There are a number of UI changes made to Android 4.2. Though, Micromax has promised to release the upgrade as soon as it releases. One different UI feature that Lava IRIS offers is its gesture control. Gesture control is nothing but AIR UI seen in Samsung GS4, wherein you can just swipe and take photos without touching the screen. The feature looks gimmicky and less responsive to the hand gestures.

Except this, the Lava IRIS 504Q comes with a 1.2 GHz quad core ARM Cortex A7 CPU along with PowerVR SGX544 for GPU needs. 1GB RAM, 4 GB internal memory which is expandable up to 32GB, 3G for faster internet on the move. Wi-Fi b/g/n with hotspot, USB on the go for portable media transferring from USB drives (No HDD transfer). An 8 megapixel shooter on the rear and 2mp in the front, 1280×720 IPS display. Video shooting at 1080p@30fps,3.5mm universal audio jack, MMS/E-mail. It is powered by a 2000 mAH battery as same as the A116 HD.

Overall, the IRIS 504Q is a pretty decent phone and an affordable one too as it is available in the Indian market for Rs. 13.5k, which is the same price band as Micromax A116 Canvas HD making it worthy competitor given a couple of extra features. The IRIS 504Q is definitely a good option to go for in the likes of Micromax A116 and Karbonn Titanium S5.

The manufactures of karbonn mobile phones are continuing their quest to provide phones in Indian market that give a lot of options for mid-range customers with the launch of the new karbonn s5 titanium we are looking at specs that are decent and get the work done for today needs, with an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen giving a resolution of 16 M colors at 220 pixel density with a 5 inch display one of the best budget phones out there additional specs include 1 GB Ram along with a Qualcomm snapdragon MSM8225Q quad core powering the phone at 1.2GHZ a decent Adreno GPU 203 the phone does churn out decent scores on benchmark test conducted by us. We were a bit surprised on how it was able to match some of the heavyweights in certain areas, with an android v 4.1 running out of the box the phones quad core processor run efficiently to make the phone zippy enough for daily usage. the battery is where the phone takes a hit with only a 2000 m AH battery to power the phone frequent charges are required for processor intensive applications for enthusiast mobile gamers it means frequent charging and carrying a charger all the time for it.

Karbonn Titanium S5

The 8 MP pixel autofocus shooter along with a front facing camera gives out decent and above average pictures with some added features like picture modifications one has options to make the most of the shoot the camera takes great still shots and has 720p capabilities while recording which lower than what the competition in the market that it is logging head with.

The stock UI provided by the phone maker makes it easy to navigate with slight modifications done the certain aspects to the menu the phone makes it easy for new and experienced android users to accustom to the phone interface. The phone has 4 GB of internal memory and expendable memory slot the dual SIM capabilities are standard part of this range something that Indian customers look for in a phone. The problem arises as it does not allow applications to be installed on expendable memory cards making it difficult to manage large apps or games that require huge space. A user becomes restricted as they only have 4 GB of space for their applications to reside in. Hope the manufactures can take care of this slight problem.

The phone comes bundled in with in ear headphones giving out an average sound quality but keeping in mind it been a budget phone the sound quality is decent also with sms threaded view MMS, Email, IN accelerometer, proximity sensors and compass along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n which is ideal for any person on the move, with 3G support available on the phone one can be certain that good speeds are available in 3G circles. The added light sensor does aid in screen brightness aiding in improved viewing while been in sunny conditions as well helps improve battery life.

Overall a great buy for budget conscious customer who are looking for an all-round performance on a budget.
