It looks like the occasion has come to welcome a newbie of Samsung Mega family. Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 will be hitting the market soon according to sources. The great share of Android users has gone addicted of using bigger screens from the past few years. With the motive of creating their bigger than every Smartphone Screen, Samsung has implanted a massive 5.9inch screen in Samsung Galaxy Mega 2. Along with this massive size, this display will be an HD display with screen resolution of 720*1280pixels. This Smartphone is going to be the new innovation of Samsung possessing a 64bit processor along with Quad core Snapdragon 410 clocked at 1.2GHz.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 2

Well, no matter the processor has been improved but there should have been a good quantity of improvement in its speed. A large number, this 1.2GHz processor is just an average thing for a Smartphone under these criteria. The best part of the surprise is that the rumours have been saying that this Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 will be installed with Android L platform. But some of the reports suggest that it will be launched with Android 4.4.3 Kit Kat. Whether this operating system or the Android L, it’s going to be something fresh and unseen. Besides these spectacular features, Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 will be having 8GB of inbuilt storage and 2GB of RAM. In this high specification Smartphone, 8GB memory looks fishy. At least 16GB could have done a far better job. Android always chokes when it comes to internal memory that’s its main problem while as rest of the Operating systems have left this issue far behind.

However 2GB of RAM feels good in coupling with a 64bit Quad core processor. The camera has been rightly housed in this massive giant. It is alleged to have 12MP primary camera and 4.7MP front shooter. The 12MP camera is a right choice for this Smartphone but its an extremely appreciable move from Samsung to use 4.7MP front camera. Otherwise majority of Smartphone’s possess either 2MP or 0.3MP front shooter. This 2MP is average but doest tastes good at times. Also with increasing technology and features, specifications also need to be maximised. There’s no fun in getting stuck at a particular specifications and it’s essential to change the trend with time.

The vast range of sensors is also present which include accelerometer, barometer, gyro meter, compass, proximity sensor, light sensor, etc. It still remained mystery, whether this Smartphone will be made compatible with 4G or not. However rest of the connectivity options are made available on this Smartphone just like the other models. These include Bluetooth, WIFI, GPS and NFC. This Smartphone’s future looks directly trapped in the hands of Google. If they would made Android L available for Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 then it will be a great hit in the market otherwise it’s just going to act like a normal Smartphone with a bigger display. Just like the Sources said, it is going it be a low end variant of Galaxy Note.

Nokia never leaves its devices alone, there is always a big brother or a smaller one in the segment in which it releases a new device and same is the case with the Nokia Lumia 1320. The Lumia 1320 is a smaller brother or a toned down version of the Flagship phablet, the Nokia Lumia 1520. Though it boasts of the same big 6” display as the 1520, but the 1320 has been quite much toned down to fit into the category of cheaper phablets which has a pretty good market. Though the specs on the Lumia 1320 are not even half impressive as that on the Lumia 1520, but they are enough for the phone to get the job done seamlessly since Windows Phone OS does not require much horsepower either to function efficiently and smoothly.

Nokia Lumia 1320

Body & Design:

The design ideology of the Nokia Lumia 1320 varies a little from the Lumia 1520. It also comes with a unibody design which seems to be the new standard from Nokia in all its devices. It does have a difference that it comes with round edges instead of the square ones on the Lumia 1520. That means that the phone is much easier to carry around is resistant to scratches if it accidently bangs all over the place, chances of which are pretty high considering the huge size of the device. Also the phone will fit in easily in your pockets so there won’t be any worries of it stretching your pockets and forming holes. The back panel is the same polycarbonate shell, but it has a bit of gloss which actually adds to the beauty of the device.

The display is what makes this phone stand out in its class. This phone the Nokia Lumia 1320 comes with a 6” IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels at 245 ppi which is pretty awesome actually considering that Nokia has been following a trend of WVGA resolution for mid-range devices, but this phone seems like a mid-range phablet and it actually is. The HD display on this device is pretty capable of handling the amazing graphics and it can be used with great efficiency for multimedia and gaming.

Nokia has really toned down this device in terms of hardware. The snapdragon 800 totting 1520 has been reduced down to a 1.7 GHz Dual Core Snapdragon S4 CPU coupled with an Adreno 305 GPU. Though it seems like 5 generations old, but it is not, the specs are decent enough and are actually enough to run Windows Phone 8 smoothly and lag free. Though it might not support many heavy games which might be requiring a minimum quad core CPU, but then that should be much of a deal breaker.

The good thing about this device is that it comes loaded with the latest version of Windows Phone 8 “Black”, the GDR3 or also termed as “Bittersweet Shimmer”. It does come loaded with some new amazing features like the Nokia Camera app, the Drive feature a new Glance screen and many more. And now also with the new GDR3 update, the OS now supports new games, Full HD resolution, Quad core processors, and huge screens as well. Now we have many less things to complain about Windows Phone.

The camera on the Lumia 1320 has been toned down to well… all the way. Nokia were we have no idea what mood they were in, but they have provided with only a simple 5 MP camera with a single flash on the Nokia Lumia 1320. We are really disappointed with this one thing. Though the camera does work nicely with Nokia standards and is better than other 5 MP shooters out there in the market but still we were expecting at least an 8 MP PureView on the back. The front though remains a simple VGA which is again a letdown, but guess we cannot complain about anything now.

Nokia has provided a decent enough 1 GB of RAM on this device which is enough for gaming and multitasking on this device with ease. So we can take it. At least there won’t be any waiting for the apps to load and stuff. Everything on the device is smooth and easy and the 1 GB of RAM makes sure it is proper. On the mass storage front, the device comes with 8 GB of inbuilt storage for apps and games. It also comes with upto 64 GB expandable storage option which is good enough. So you can save your media files over there.

The best thing the Lumia 1320 is that Nokia has not toned the battery down at least. It boasts the same 3400 mAh battery from the Nokia Lumia 1520. So you can be sure that you won’t have to run for the charger anytime soon after a full charge. Nokia claims that the phone provides 21 hours of talk time on 3G so you can easily use the phone for a day with heavy usage without worrying about charging it. We have not yet done a battery endurance test of the device since we received it just a couple of days ago, so stay tuned for that, it is coming soon.

The Nokia Lumia 1320 is just a toned down version of the Nokia Lumia 1520 in terms of the hardware, but the functioning of the phone is exactly the same with the same inside software, OS and all the works. The new camera app, the new glance screen, storyteller feature and many more add a nice quirk to the OS making it match more towards Android and iOS and it is just a matter of time until the popular apps and titles arrive for Windows Phone since it is now developed quite so much.

So overall the Nokia Lumia 1320 is a good phone, but don’t expect it to be like the Lumia 1520 but something near the Lumia 925 in terms of functioning. But if you are a fan of big screen Windows Phone and also on a budget, then the Nokia Lumia 1320 might just be your answer. So overall the Nokia Lumia 1320 is a very good phone in terms of performance even with the low specs and with the big battery in it, it is a very good choice to go for if of course you have jeans with pockets big enough to fit the phone as well.

Nokia came with big bang some time ago literally, with the huge Phablet, the Nokia Lumia 1520. Nokia has for the first time released a device with the best ever available hardware and worked hard on making a Lumia device to pack a punch, literally. It has the specs of a top end Android flagship model and yet the simplicity of Windows Phone in Full HD and a humongous screen. Add to that another killer camera on it and we have a mean Windows machine on our hands. This phone took one helluva long time to reach us for a review, and now that it is finally here, we are just unable to keep our hands off it, or shall we say in our hands? (Yes it’s a joke)

Nokia Lumia 1520

Body & Design:

Nokia didn’t really spend a big time designing this phone. It has used the same design concept of the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925 put together and stretches the total size to accommodate the big screen. The body is a nice matte finish polycarbonate unibody design concept where the humungous battery is inside the body and cannot be removed. But other than that there is everything that a windows phone has like the 3 capacitive touch buttons in front and the volume rocker, power button and camera button on the right edge of the device.

The display on this device is the most important part of what makes this device special. It has a nice huge 6” IPS LCD Full HD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 367 ppi. This is in total competition with other Android phablets out there in the market like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy Mega series, Sony Xperia Z Ultra and many others. The display has been named as the best sunlight readability display and it uses the ClearBlack technology of Nokia making the display much sharper than its competitors. Also the 6” huge screen means it’s perfect or gaming and movies which is equally well supported by its big battery.

The hardware on this device is just top notch. It has a Snapdragon 800 whirring inside it at 2.2 GHz coupled with an Adreno 330 GPU for graphics. This means that there are absolutely no shortcomings in terms of horsepower for this device. It is capable of HD gaming, heavy apps and lots of multitasking with complete ease. The best part is that it is well supported by a light OS for these amazing specs, the free flow functionality will be of complete abundance in the Lumia 1520.

Operating System:

Microsoft has come up with a new version of Windows Phone 8 which is termed a “Bittersweet Shimmer” and named Windows Phone 8 ‘Black’ on the system. Technically it has been termed as GDR3 update by the technical people in short. This update has added much new functionality to the OS as well as cleared out many bugs which were present in the system as well. Some new features include a whole new camera app termed as Nokia Camera, a drive mode, some many small technical and feature changes and most important of all, a new glance screen. We will come to all that later. But with the new update, Windows Phone 8 now supports quad core processors, high amount of RAM, huge displays and Full HD support.

The camera on this device is just epic. It does not match with the 41 MP shooter on the Lumia 1020 but it is the next best thing. The camera on the Lumia 1520 is a 20 MP PureView camera with Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS). This is amazing for a camera as it comes with Carl Zeiss optics and a 6th sensor for amazing low light photography. And when it comes to cameras, you can never beat the Nokias at it since they have the best cameras. Also now with the new version of Windows Phone 8, Nokia has done away with the concept of lenses and different apps for the camera and has bundled everything up in a new app called Nokia Camera. This app helps you choose the lenses as well as the settings of the camera can be accessed directly from here if you want to fiddle with your camera. Along with the amazing stills, the camera can also record Full HD videos while the 1.2 MP front camera can shoot videos of up to 720p HD videos.

On the memory front the Lumia 1520 comes completely loaded with 32 GB of onboard storage. Considering that you will be using this device for a lot of multimedia viewing and also for many apps and games, so the huge amount of memory is provided so you can store your media files and games and apps on it as much as you want. Also if you happen to fall short of even that storage space, then there is a provision to increase the storage using a memory card of up to 64 GB. So you can be sure to never to run out of memory. Also the device comes packing with 2 GB of RAM which helps in smooth functionality of the system, support for many heavy games, and most of all, loads of multitasking on offer.

The device comes with a 3400 mAh battery which is really huge. Nokia claims that the battery on this device lasts 25 hours on 3G which means that an average user can use this one for up to 2 days on a single charge while a heavy user can use this device with ease for a single day without worrying about running to a charger. We haven’t yet conducted the battery endurance test, but we will soon, so stay tuned for that.

Now coming to the features, phone is pretty much feature packed. It comes loaded with all the features of Windows Phone 8, as well an amazing camera on it. A huge Full HD screen with amazing viewing angles and also the great horsepower under the hood make it a mean machine. Add to it a huge battery to power the device for long hours and you have a perfect companion. But not to be forgotten that even with all that, Windows still lacks stuff compared to iOS and Android, but it is getting there slowly and it is just a matter of time until that happens. But still, the new Nokia Camera app, the storyline feature, where you can make your photos, tell the story using HERE Maps, and the new Driving mode are some amazing features which add new zest to Windows Phone OS. Also with Full HD display and big screen support, Windows has also added the feature of a new column of live tiles. This means now you can do more on the same screen.

So overall, if you are a fan of huge screen devices and Windows Phone, then you have correctly found your partner in the Nokia Lumia 1520 with its amazing display, specs and battery and this phone surely gives the big screen Androids a true run for their money. So do comment below and let us know what you feel about the current flagship from Nokia.

We could never imagine big phones could make a wave until Samsung introduced their Note. And with the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 they seem to be pushing the limit. Samsung has launched its much talked about Mega 6.3 in April this year. The majestically wide screen is a feast for your eyes. It is ideal for photos, reading books and videos. The phone is big enough to display visuals brilliantly and portable enough to carry it around. It stands between a tablet and a smart phone.

Samsung Galaxy mega 6.3

Packed with bright sharp and full-HD TFT display, Air View, S Beam and screen-mirroring; it is the bigger cousin to the S4. The home screen, speakers and volume bars remain exactly like their flagship product. With a polished chassis and appealing cover pattern Samsung Mega6.3 looks every bit like a bigger S4. Samsung Mega 6.3 beats Samsung Galaxy Grand and Samsung Mega 5.8 hands down with a higher screen resolution (720p) and better specs. It is a big phone with decent mid-range specs but it guarantees brilliant visuals.

Hardware is moderately loaded with Dual-core 1.7GHz and Snapdragon 400 chipset; 1.5GB of RAM, 3200 Li-ion mAh (replaceable) battery and has a 1.9 MP front camera ; decent for video calling. Its primary 8MP camera with auto-focus; will be best used with its wide screen. It also has LED(1EA)flash for low-light filming.
With Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean TouchWiz UI; you have nothing more to ask for. Mega 6.3 also has LTE along with Bluetooth, WiFi and A-GPS for connectivity.

Key Features:
1) 6.3 inch display (720 x 1280 pixels); TouchWiz UI
2) 1.5 GB RAM
3) 8/16 GB memory (expandable up to 64GB)
4) Primary 8MP camera with auto-focus and LED (1EA) flash
5) Front camera 1.9 MP
6) Latest Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2

The down-side:
1) Dual-core 1.7 GHz
2) TFT display (AMOLED display would have been an added advantage)
3) Heavy (199 GM)
4) Less battery support
