Today’s topic of comparison is between Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and LG G4 both the phones were launched this year with a price tag of 40,000 Rupees and above.
Every companies tries to make their device more trendy as well easy to handle as design is one of the important parameter. Both these company has done well in this field. Where LG has provided an option of choosing between a leather back cover or the normal accompanied plastic cover whereas on other hand Samsung has gone with the aluminum body at back. Apart from the back cover LG has provided a sleek and curvy design with volume rocker as well unlock button provided at the back and front side contains the 5.5″ screen with a front facing camera and LG branding. Samsung as usual has kept its overall design unchanged and that is one of reason I believe the Samsung is afraid of in this market.
Clicking pictures sellfie and hd video is a trend now a days. User wants to grab all the memories possible with loved ones to live with the memory forever and keeping that into mind both these companies have provided a very good camera that works quite well. Both Samsung and LG have provided 16MP back camera with led flash that has capabilities to record a HD video. Rear camera has many features like autofocus, voice activation, face detection, smile detection, self-timer and many more. Both the phone support 5 modes of camera like panaroma, HDR, burst mode and so on. On the front side, LG beats Samsung by providing a 8MP front camera whereas Samsung is providing a 5MP camera; both these phones are lagging front facing flash which now is a common attachment.
No company ever compromises with the hardware. Hardware is the essential part of every device and to provide a best hardware is important as no one likes to “see their device hang”. Keeping that in mind let’s see what each device has to offer you. Lg G4 has a QUALCOMM snapdragon 808 (6 core Arm processor) with a 3GB of Ram and an Adreno 418 GPU that handles graphic quite well. The device has a built in 32GB storage space that can be expanded further using a microsd card. Now let’s see what Samsung has got under the hood. Samsung edge has a Exynos 7 Octa 7420 (8core processor) with a 3GB of RAM and a Mali GPU that work quite awesome. The company has trumped this category by providing a 128GB internal memory without any expansion capability.
5.5″ LG screen has a 538-pixel density with a resolution of 1440x 2560 pixels. The screen provided is a gorilla glass 3 IPS LCD screen with multi touch capability. Samsung comes with a 5.1″ screen that has 541-pixel density and a resolution of 1440x 2560 pixels. The screen provided is a gorilla glass 4 IPS LCD screen with multi touch capability. Both these phones have a capability to represent 16K colors.
Both these phone work on Android Lollipop but LG G4 works on LG’s UI and with Samsung its Touch wiz UI. Both the UI have their own view point of expressing their version of Android to their users. We think Samsung WiZ UI has many add ons which may be not such a good thing for many users out, if Samsung could do away with it could save loads of space.
Based on the comparison on certain aspects LG trumped Samsung and on others it was Samsung taking the lead but if I were to judge based on design, Camera, hardware and screen I would prefer LG G4 over Samsung edge S6.
