There were many announcement made in Microsoft’s Build Conference 2014 but one of the most important announcement that draws everyone’s attentions was the tie up of Microsoft with the Indian smartphone maker. Micromax is well known for providing well featured smartphone in cheaper price as compared to other brands. We can expect to see affordable Windows Phone 8.1 platform-based smartphones soon in India. These days, Android operating system is in demand in market but still there are many fans of Windows Phone devices and it makes a good scope for Micromax Windows Phone 8.1-based smartphones.
From various sources it is found that Micromax and Microsoft were thinking to launch Windows phone from last few months and finally they have came to final agreement.Micromax is not the only one company to get Microsoft’s free Windows Phone offer. According to recent reports, there are also some other smartphone companies like Xolo (Lava) and Karbonn.
Microsoft has made operating system free, so we can expect hike in total Windows Phone OS market shares. It can help Microsoft to compete with current ruling mobile phone operating system like Android and iOS. As per the report on Q4 2013, Microsoft is having 16% of total market shares and it makes Micromax one of the biggest smartphone Manufacturer in India. New smartphone from Micromax will come with Windows Phone 8.1 update and so will be having many new features added into it. One of the interesting features of it is Cortana that can be considered as Microsoft’s answer to Siri. Other than Cortana, there are also many new things added like new notification centre, Internet Explorer 11, enhanced security and enterprise features, enhanced focus on app discovery and a improved calendar.
