From last few days, Nvidia is talking regarding their new plans for mobile but that was very general talk. Recently they have revealed a few details and name of their next generation Tegra K1 chip. This was revealed in Nvidia;s traditional CES press event. They said that it will be names as Tegra K1 and it’s the successor of Tegra 4. There will be two different version of it. Below are a few specifications those were revealed by them.
It will come with 192-core GPU which is based on the desktop Kepler architecture. If we compare this with the Tegra 4 then it is just having 72 older GPU cores, there is big difference in GPU cores. They illustrated their new Tegra K1 with a few charts and shown the overview of this new GPU.
They have also mentioned that it will have DirectX 11.1 support with CUDA. Other than this, it will also have more raw horsepower as compared to the PS3 or the Xbox 360. With such a boosting specification, there is no doubt that it will be more powerful as compared to the current Tegra GPU.
We mentioned earlier that it will have two versions of this new GPU. First one nis with the quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU cluster with the Kepler GPU and a helper core. Second version is with dual-core Denver CPUs. Second version with dual-core Denver CPUs was unexpected with the Tegra K1. Jen-Hsun Huang, Nvidia CEO have not told anything about the availability of these versions of chip but it is estimated that the A15 addition will be available in the first half of 2014 and DEnver version will be out in second half of 2014.
