In the Global Mobile Internet Conference held recently in Beijing the top brass of Cyanogen discussed the past and the future of the company, and it was not very surprising that the company shall snap ties with the company OnePlus. Cyanogen were looking out for new vendors in the hardware section to bring the customary Android OS to market. Steve Kondik of Cyanogen opined that the two companies Cyanogen and OnePlus had different goals for the software and this was the cause of conflict as both pursued separately for the goals, thus stepping on each other’s toes, while launching OnePlus One in India last year.

No longer together : Cyanogen and OnePlus

Cyanogen had already entered into an exclusive deal signed with Micromax the low cost smartphone manufacturer of India who had banned the sale of OnePlus handsets operated by the custom OS. Whereas the other top official of Cyanogen, Kirt McMaster was apparently not very pleased with the way the companies separated. He expressed his opinion that OnePlus developed their brand on the basis of Cyanogen and OnePlus would not have been able to sell many handsets without the appeal.

The company Cyanogen is already working with new partners for their share in the smartphone market share. The Chinese manufacturer is already in action and is scouting for the new partners in their venture. Apparently Cyanogen is now keen on tapping the international market and is looking for one who can boost the production to capture the international market quicker.OnePlus however, has Oxygen OS to fill the gap created by the departing Cyanogen OS. Though for all those devices running on Cyanogen OS, the company Cyanogen shall continue to offer support.
